The mount has a "harmonic drive" in right ascension while in declination it uses the crown and VSF with the "quick-lock" locking system easy to balance and with zero backlash!
This choice brings the advantage of the harmonic motion in AR which can support telescopes without counterweights, a lower cost of the mount and the possibility of balancing the declination axis!
Thanks to this combination of mechanical elements, the mount head weighs only 3.7kg but holds telescopes up to 13.5kg, 3.65 times its weight!
Ioptron is slowly abandoning the use of cast aluminum for its frames, the HEM27 is in fact made entirely of steel and black anodized CNC machined aluminum ... durable materials for a unique frame of its kind!
The HEM27 also has two important features: in the event of a power failure, an electronic clutch comes in handy that blocks the RA axis even if very unbalanced, in this way there is no risk that the mount can move by itself and go bump somewhere! In addition, the computer automatically keeps the previous alignment in memory, so when the power returns, the mount knows exactly where it is pointing, starts tracking in AR and there is no need to redo any alignment procedure!
The iPolar polar scope is always present, for easy and precise alignment to the pole by computer!
The mount accepts the (optional) 1.75" literock tripods and the new iOptron carbon tripod (optional)
