The Askar 103 APO is an apochromatic APO refractor (OTA) with a 103 mm aperture and 700.4 mm focal length, engineered for high contrast imaging and precise color correction. Its air-spaced APO triplet objective with ED glass minimizes chromatic aberration and delivers pinpoint stars and clean structural detail across the field.

Optical Performance
The air-spaced triplet lens design with ED glass ensures superior correction of color fringing by reducing wavelength-dependent refraction. The result is tight star profiles, high contrast, and accurate color reproduction even at higher magnifications or with long photographic exposures.
Mechanical Design
The dew shield interior features matte black felt to prevent reflections, while the main optical tube includes internal baffles to enhance microcontrast. The lightweight CNC tube rings offer secure stability with added spacing for accessories. The standard 290 mm Vixen-style dovetail includes extended slots and mounting positions for optimal balance; an optional Losmandy plate is also available.
Optional Accessories
- 1× Field Flattener: maintains F/6.8 focal ratio while correcting field curvature and coma for edge-to-edge sharpness.
- 0.8× Reducer: reduces focal ratio to F/5.4, increasing field of view and reducing exposure time — excellent for nebulae and wide-field imaging.
- 0.6× Reducer: achieves F/4 for ultra-fast imaging; used together with the detachable tube section.
All accessories include 2″ filter threads and M54/M48 adapters; the 0.6× reducer also includes an M68 adapter ring.
