The Askar 120 APO is a high-performance apochromatic triplet refractor featuring a 120 mm aperture that delivers outstanding light-gathering power, excellent resolution, and bright, high-contrast images. With a 36% larger aperture area compared to the 103 APO, it reaches a limiting magnitude of up to 12.2, allowing you to capture fainter celestial objects with remarkable detail.
Its air-spaced APO triplet optical design includes a premium ED glass element, effectively reducing chromatic aberration. Multiple lens elements and a carefully engineered optical layout ensure accurate color rendition and sharp detail across the entire field — essential for astrophotographers and demanding visual observers.
The Askar 120 APO is engineered for portability and stability. With a total weight of just 6.5 kg (including tube rings), it is ideal for field use. Each unit includes a unique identification ring. The retractable dew shield with enlarged locking screws protects the optics and minimizes stray light.
The telescope features two finder bases, one on each side of the focuser, allowing you to mount additional accessories without removing the finder. The extended handle with a slotted design also doubles as a finder mounting platform.
The lightweight tube rings weigh only 780 g and use thumb screws for quick opening and closing. The 290 mm Vixen dovetail plate is compatible with most equatorial mounts; an optional Losmandy plate is also available.
Two optional accessories are available:
- 1x Field Flattener – maintains f/7, correcting field curvature and coma.
- 0.8x Reducer – shortens the focal ratio to f/5.6 for faster exposures and wider fields.
Both accessories include integrated 2" filter threads and M54/M48 adapters. For visual observing, the Askar 120 APO easily reaches focus with 1.25" and 2" diagonals and most eyepieces. The segmented tube design also supports the use of a binoviewer.
The robust 3.3" dual-speed rack-and-pinion focuser provides 10 cm of precise travel, CNC-machined construction, anti-reflection interior, and excellent stray light suppression. A 360° precision rotator with scale markings and an enlarged lock screw ensures accurate framing even with heavy imaging equipment. The rear interface includes both 1.25" and 2" visual adapters.
The OTA is fully CNC-machined with anodized finishing, featuring an elegant ivory-white body with orange accents for a clean, modern aesthetic.
