The Askar 1.0x Flattener for the 160APO preserves the telescope’s native focal ratio of f/7 while effectively correcting field curvature and coma. This results in pinpoint stars and a fully flat, well-corrected image across the entire frame—ideal for high-resolution astrophotography with large sensors.
Optical Design and Full Frame Capability
The flattener features a triplet optical design that supports a 44 mm full-frame image circle. With a standard 55 mm backfocus from the M48x0.75 male thread, it integrates seamlessly with most astronomical cameras and imaging setups.
Connections and Mechanical Construction
The unit provides multiple rear thread options, including M68x1, M54x0.75 and M48x0.75. An internal M48x0.75 filter thread allows the use of standard 2" filters. Its fully CNC-machined body ensures mechanical rigidity and stability, while threaded caps protect the optics from dust when not in use.
