Vai al moduloAskar 185APO: 185mm APO triplet astrograph for deep-sky imaging and visual observation
The Askar 185APO is a refractor OTA with a 185mm aperture, 1,295mm focal length and a native focal ratio of f/7. The large aperture delivers an intrinsic advantage in light-gathering power, resolution, brightness and contrast: the limiting magnitude reaches 13.1. The air-spaced APO triplet design with ED glass element ensures superior chromatic correction and colour accuracy for astrophotography and planetary observation.
Optics and chromatic correction
The Askar 185APO uses an air-spaced APO triplet design with an ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element. ED glass reduces chromatic aberration to a minimum, delivering superior detail and pinpoint stars across the entire field. Each unit is identified by a unique numbered ring.
Mechanical design and portability
Despite the large aperture, the Askar 185APO was designed with portability in mind. The retractable rear lens tube (95mm travel) brings the minimum length to just 1,081mm. The integrated tube ring structure (2.3 kg total) with thumbscrews and raised base offers convenience and accessory space.
- Retractable dew shield with enlarged locking screws
- Extended 400mm handle with slots for finder mounting
- Losmandy dovetail bar 400mm with multiple holes for balancing
- Integrated tube rings with thumbscrews
Focuser and rotator
The Askar 185APO features a 3.5" dual-speed rack-and-pinion focuser with 100mm travel, high-precision scale and CNC-machined anti-reflection interior. The 360° high-precision rotator with degree scale allows precise and repeatable rotation angles, with an enlarged locking screw. Two finder shoes on both sides of the focuser.
Photographic and visual use
The retractable tube enables two distinct configurations:
- Tube retracted: connection to a binoviewer for visual observation
- Tube extended: connection to the optional 0.8x reducer (f/5.6) or 1x flattener (f/7) for astrophotography, or diagonal and eyepiece for observation
The optional 0.8x reducer brings the focal ratio to f/5.6 for wider fields and shorter exposure times. The 1x flattener maintains f/7 while correcting field curvature and coma. Both optional accessories include an integrated 2" filter thread and M68/M54/M48 adapters.
