Vai al moduloAuriga Zoom Eyepiece 7.2-21.5mm – More Magnification, Same Versatility
The Auriga 7.2-21.5mm zoom eyepiece is the high-magnification version of the Auriga zoom range: the focal length shifted downward (7.2mm instead of 9mm) makes it the preferred choice for those who want to push detail on planets, Moon and double stars without giving up the convenience of a zoom. A single rotation of the barrel takes you from a wide view of open clusters all the way to the surface details of Jupiter or Saturn — all with one eyepiece.
7-element FMC optics: contrast and sharpness across the full field
The optical system comprises 7 elements in 4 groups, each coated with a polymer-based FMC (Fully Multi-Coated) anti-reflection treatment. This ensures maximum light transmission, high contrast and sharp images across the entire field of view. The excellent contrast modulation performance makes it suitable in combination with Barlow lenses and on short-focus refractors, where aberration correction is most demanding.
Apparent field and eye relief
The apparent field of view varies with the selected focal length:
- 60° at 7.2mm (minimum focal length – maximum magnification)
- 40° at 21.5mm (maximum focal length – minimum magnification)
The 15mm eye relief ensures comfortable use even with spectacles, without vignetting or edge-of-field degradation.
CNC mechanics and Twist-Cup eyecup
The mechanics are manufactured with precision CNC machining, delivering a solid build, minimal tolerances and smooth, precise focal length adjustment. The standard 31.8mm (1.25") barrel fits any compatible focuser. The adjustable Twist-Cup eyecup eliminates lateral reflections and protects the eyepiece during transport.

7.2-21.5mm or 9-27mm? How to choose between the two Auriga zooms
Both models share the same build and optical quality. The key difference is the focal range: the 7.2-21.5mm reaches higher magnifications at its minimum focal length, making it the ideal choice for those who prioritise high-resolution planetary and lunar observation. The 9-27mm covers a wider range toward lower magnifications, making it more versatile for deep sky and general sessions. If your focus is on planets and fine detail, this is the right model.
