Baader Hyperion Zoom Mark IV 8–24 mm – Universal Zoom Eyepiece for Telescopes and Spotting Scopes

The Baader Hyperion Zoom Mark IV is the fourth generation of Baader Planetarium’s acclaimed zoom eyepiece. It delivers outstanding image quality, a wide 68° apparent field of view, and a refined Clickstop mechanism that defines five fixed focal lengths (8, 12, 16, 20, and 24 mm), making it ideal for effortless binocular viewing.

The zoom mechanism and internal lens rails have been redesigned for smoother operation in cold conditions and improved parfocality at each focal length. With nearly 4 mm additional back focus, this eyepiece is compatible with a wide range of modern telescopes and spotting scopes, even those with challenging focus positions.

Using the included "A" adapter ring, the eyepiece can sit deeper in most spotting scope eyepiece holders, ensuring precise infinity focus. Removing the 1.25" barrel reveals a 1 3/8" thread inside the "A" ring that fits tightly into all Celestron Ultima spotters. Optional bayonet adapters for Zeiss Diascope spotters and threaded adapters for other brands are available, taking advantage of the extended back focus.

When used on a telescope, the included "B" ring ensures proper height alignment with most diagonals. The supplied 2" SC ring allows secure mounting of the Zoom Mark IV onto any SC-thread, particularly when paired with Baader’s 2" ClickLock diagonal and adapter (# 1.508.020).

Like all Baader eyepieces, the Mark IV features a top-mounted M43 photo thread for direct attachment of DSLR cameras or T-2 accessories using the optional M43/T-2 adapter ring (# 2.958.080). The eyepiece retains its optical excellence, offering a full 68° field of view at 8 mm, along with Phantom Group Multi-Coatings for maximum contrast and clarity.

Included in the package are a large, adjustable eyecup and two M43 rubber eyecups for binoviewing. An optional M43/M43 spacer ring (# 2.954.250) adds 7.5 mm of height for additional comfort. The Mark IV is compatible with the Hyperion 2.25x Barlow lens, transforming it into a high-power zoom with an effective range of 3.6 to 10.7 mm.

The eyepiece is available as a standalone unit (# 2.454.826) or in a bundle with the 2.25x Barlow (# 2.454.827). Both 1.25" and 2" barrels are pre-installed and include dust caps, with integrated threads for 1.25" and 2" filters.

Both barrels feature Zero-Tilt anti-slip grooves to prevent the eyepiece from slipping if a clamp is not fully tightened. A soft Baader yellow pouch with integrated belt loop completes the premium accessory set.
