The Baader Q-Barlow 2.25x / 1.3x is a high-quality 31.8 mm (1.25") Barlow lens designed for both visual observation and astrophotography. Its modular design allows two different magnification factors, providing flexibility for a wide range of observing and imaging setups.
Optical quality and performance
The Barlow lens extends the effective focal length of the optical system by 2.25x in the standard configuration, or by approximately 1.3x when the lens cell is screwed directly onto an eyepiece or photographic adapter. HT multi-coatings and blackened lens edges reduce reflections and stray light, improving contrast and image sharpness, even during lunar or solar observations.
The large clear aperture of the front lens allows the use of long focal length eyepieces, such as 32 mm Plössl eyepieces, without vignetting. Image quality remains high even at increased magnifications, with no significant loss of detail.
Visual use
In standard visual use, the Q-Barlow is inserted between the telescope and the eyepiece, providing a 2.25x magnification while maintaining the original eye relief of the eyepiece. When the lens cell is attached directly to the eyepiece, the magnification is reduced to approximately 1.3x.
Photographic use
For imaging applications, the Barlow lens cell can be screwed directly onto a 31.8 mm photographic adapter. In this configuration, it acts as a photographic converter with a magnification factor between 1.3x and 2.25x, depending on the distance between the camera sensor and the lens group.
