The Baader UV/IR Cut / L 2" filter selectively blocks ultraviolet and infrared wavelengths, ensuring accurate color balance and improved image quality. It is particularly effective with lens-based telescopes, such as refractors, which are optimized for visible light but generally not corrected for UV and IR.
Improved Color Balance for Refracting Telescopes
Excess sensitivity to UV and IR light can produce small halos around stars. By placing the Baader UV/IR Cut filter in the optical path, this effect is eliminated thanks to its precise cut-off characteristics and high transmission across the visible spectrum.
Optimized for CCD Cameras and Modified DSLR Sensors
CCD cameras and modified DSLR cameras can detect wavelengths outside the visible range, causing unwanted color shifts in astrophotography, especially with color sensors. Using the Baader UV/IR Cut filter in front of the sensor restores proper color balance and prevents distortions while preserving detail and image fidelity.
