The Kowa Genesis XD 10x33 DCF is a compact, high-performance binocular designed for those who demand professional optical quality in a portable format. With its 10x magnification, it is the ideal choice for long-distance observation across open terrain. At the heart of the system is the PROMINAR XD optical design, built around XD (Extra-low Dispersion) glass lenses that eliminate chromatic aberration across the entire field of view.
Manufactured in Japan with rigorous material selection, the Genesis XD 10x33 represents the Kowa standard for field binoculars intended for birdwatching, wildlife observation and nature photography.
XD Lenses and C3 Multi-layer Coating
The 33 mm objective lenses in XD (Extra-low Dispersion) glass are paired with Schmidt-Pechan prisms in BAk4 + SK15 glass with C3 dielectric multi-layer coating, achieving reflectivity above 99% in the 400–700 nm band. The result is exceptional light transmission with natural colours and freedom from colour fringing.
All optical surfaces receive multi-layer anti-reflection treatment for high contrast even in backlit conditions.
10x Magnification and Field of View
With a real field of view of 6.8° (119 m at 1,000 m) and 10x magnification, the Genesis XD 10x33 excels at long-distance birdwatching and wildlife observation in open landscapes. The exit pupil of 3.3 mm delivers clear images in normal lighting conditions, while the 15 mm eye relief allows comfortable use with spectacles.
The 1.5 m close-focus distance enables observation of insects and small birds even at maximum magnification.
Construction and Materials
The magnesium alloy chassis provides structural rigidity at low weight: just 590 g in a 133×103×51 mm form factor, ideal for long hikes or extended observation sessions. The armoured rubber coating ensures a secure grip and absorbs accidental impacts.
The central focus wheel operates with precision and smooth progression, suited to use with gloves or rapid field observation.
Waterproofing and Weather Resistance
The Genesis XD 10x33 is fully waterproof and nitrogen-filled to prevent internal fogging caused by temperature and humidity changes, making it suitable for use in adverse weather: rain, fog and thermal cycling on winter excursions.
