The Leica Ultravid 10x50 HD-Plus is the Leica binocular for those who accept no compromise in challenging light conditions. Fluorite lenses — a technology normally reserved for professional astronomical telescopes — almost completely eliminate chromatic aberration, delivering images of extraordinary sharpness and contrast even at dusk and by night. The twilight factor of 22.4 and the 5.0 mm exit pupil make it the absolute reference for wildlife observation in low light: ideal for safari at sunset, crepuscular birdwatching and astronomical observation. At ca. 1,000 g and 125×178×70 mm, it lends itself naturally to tripod use for extended sessions.
Fluorite lenses: the absolute pinnacle of Leica optics
The Ultravid HD-Plus range uses pure fluorite lenses, the optical material with the lowest dispersion coefficient available in nature, surpassing even ED or XD glass in chromatic neutrality. The result is an image free of colour fringing, with exceptional contrast and tonal fidelity at any magnification and in any light condition. All optical surfaces benefit from the HDC® multi-layer coating and the AquaDura® hydrophobic treatment on outer lenses.
Prism System P40 + HLS™ and ADC™
The roof prism system features P40 phase correction and the HighLux-System HLS™, maximising internal reflection and chromatic coherence across the entire visible spectrum. The exclusive ADC™ (Automatic Diopter Compensation) system automatically balances dioptre compensation, eliminating the need for frequent manual adjustments during extended observation sessions.
Field of View and Eye Comfort
With a real field of view of 6.7° (117 m at 1,000 m), the 10x50 offers a generous panorama for a binocular at this magnification. The removable eyecups with 4 click stops ensure maximum comfort even for spectacle wearers with the 15 mm eye relief. The minimum focus distance of approx. 3.3 m allows close-range observation. The interpupillary range (58–74 mm) adapts to any face shape.
Construction and Waterproofing
The magnesium body with nitrogen filling is waterproof to 5 m depth. The ergonomic balance and rubber side bridges ensure a secure grip on a tripod via the dedicated tripod mount (tripod adapter LE42220, available separately). Supplied with: shaped neoprene strap, eyepiece cap, front lens cover, Cordura bag.
