Vai al moduloLeica Ultravid 7x42 HD-Plus: fluorite 7x with 6 mm exit pupil for low-light performance
The Leica Ultravid 7x42 HD-Plus is the highest low-light performer in the 42mm series. The 6 mm exit pupil — the largest in the Ultravid 42 line — maximises the luminous flux reaching the eye at dusk, in forest environments and in adverse weather. The pure fluorite optical system delivers chromatically neutral images with virtually zero secondary chromatic aberration. The twilight factor of 17.1 positions the 7x42 as the dedicated low-light reference model of the range. The 7x magnification reduces hand-tremor sensitivity, making the binocular suitable for use aboard vessels.
Optics: fluorite, HDC®, AquaDura®
The 8 lenses per side in pure fluorite exhibit the lowest Abbe dispersion value of any commercially available optical material, with near-complete elimination of secondary chromatic aberration. The HDC® (High Durable Coating) multi-layer treatment optimises light transmission across all surfaces. The outer AquaDura® coating provides hydrophobic and oleophobic protection on the front and rear objective and eyepiece surfaces, with reduced residual reflectance.
Prism system: P40 + HLS™ and ADC™
The roof prism system integrates the P40 phase-correction coating and the HighLux-System HLS™, maximising internal prism reflectance and phase coherence across the full visible spectrum (400–700 nm). The ADC™ (Automatic Diopter Compensation) system automatically compensates for inter-ocular dioptre asymmetry, stabilising the setting without manual intervention during extended sessions. Focusing is internal via central wheel; alignment drift during rotation is eliminated.
Field of view and eyepiece design
The 8.0° field of view (140 m at 1,000 m) ranks among the widest in the 7x42 class, supporting rapid target acquisition in heavily vegetated terrain. The 17 mm eye relief (AP) permits full-field coverage at eye distances up to 14–15 mm, compatible with corrective spectacles. Eyecups are twist-and-pull removable with two click-stop positions; interpupillary adjustment is continuous from 55 to 75 mm.
Body and sealing
The die-cast magnesium body with nitrogen purge provides structural rigidity and waterproofing certified to 5 m depth. At ca. 770 g for 120×141×68 mm, the 7x42 occupies the full-size category with an optimised aperture-to-weight ratio. Tripod-ready via adapter LE42220 (available separately). Supplied with: ergonomic neoprene strap, rain guard, objective cap, Cordura bag.
