The iconic C8: 2032mm focal length in a compact body
The Celestron Advanced VX 8" SCT brings the legendary C8 optics to a modern, versatile equatorial mount. The Schmidt-Cassegrain design at 203mm f/10 delivers a focal length of 2032mm in an extremely compact and portable tube. The StarBright XLT coatings maximize light transmission across the entire visible spectrum, complete freedom from chromatic aberration and 84% more light-gathering than a 6" telescope. Excellent for planetary and lunar observation as well as deep-sky visual astronomy and astrophotography with an optional focal reducer.
Advanced VX mount: imaging, PPEC and dual saddle
The German equatorial Advanced VX mount is the most compact and portable in Celestron's lineup, with the same rigidity as larger mounts. The maximum payload of 13.6 kg (30 lb) comfortably supports the 8" SCT with accessories. The dual saddle is compatible with CG-5 and CGE dovetail bars — note: not compatible with Losmandy D format. The latitude range from 7° to 77° covers virtually all observing locations worldwide. The permanently programmable PPEC compensates for worm gear errors for smooth tracking during long exposures. The All-Star Polar Alignment system enables polar alignment on any bright star, and the meridian imaging function eliminates interruptions during photo sessions.
CPWI software, NexStar+ and Starry Night included
The NexStar+ hand controller with internet-updatable firmware manages a database of 40,000 objects with automatic SkyAlign alignment. The Celestron PWI (CPWI) software, co-developed with PlaneWave Instruments, offers a graphical planetarium interface with advanced PointXP mount modelling for 100+ alignment points, ideal for remote observatory setups. Also included: Starry Night Special Edition for session planning. The RTC module with backup battery retains alignment data after power-off.
