The Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 130AZ is a 130 mm Newtonian telescope paired with the revolutionary StarSense Explorer pointing system. Forget complicated star maps, inaccurate planetarium apps and expensive computerised mounts: with the patented StarSense Explorer, your smartphone automatically recognises the telescope’s exact position in the sky using the brightest stars, making object pointing simpler and faster than ever.
Place your smartphone in the dedicated holder on the mount, launch the StarSense Explorer app and, within a couple of minutes, the wonders of the night sky are ready to be targeted. Select the desired object — Moon, planet, galaxy or nebula — and follow the on-screen arrows. Thanks to the 130 mm aperture, even from city skies you can observe the Andromeda Galaxy, the Orion Nebula and numerous star clusters. Check the full list of compatible smartphones here.
How does the pointing work?
Choose from the list suggested by the app the object you want to observe.

The app shows the direction in which to move the telescope manually.

Move the telescope following the on-screen instructions.

Object centred: start observing.
