Vai al moduloObserve the Sun in the Magnesium I b2 spectral line
The Daystar QUARK Magnesium I b2-line allows solar observation in the Magnesium I b2 spectral line at 5172.8 Å, opening a completely different perspective compared to traditional H-Alpha filters.
Observing in the Mg line reveals the boundary layer between granulation and spicules, heavy surface mottling with high contrast, plage regions in detail comparable to or exceeding the Calcium line, and Zeeman splitting in magnetically active regions. Magnesium emits in green — the wavelength of peak human eye sensitivity. Typical bandpass is approximately 0.3 – 0.5 Å.
Important note: Standard red and yellow ERF filters do not transmit the Magnesium wavelength. A UV/IR cut filter transparent in the green is required. For apertures above 120 mm, contact DayStar for a custom ERF for the 517 nm wavelength.
