A 90mm catadioptric optic for deep-sky imaging
The DwarfLab Draco features a 90mm catadioptric optical system (340mm focal length, f/3.8), designed to gather more light and resolve finer detail than DwarfLab's entry-level models. The wide aperture makes it particularly suited to deep-sky imaging, as well as the Moon and planets.
Dual sensor: rotating telephoto and wide-angle
Light collected by the 90mm optics is projected onto a 1/1.3" CMOS sensor, capable of capturing astronomical subjects with great sharpness. The sensor can be physically rotated, letting you adapt the framing, horizontal, vertical or diagonal, to the subject. A second 1/1.8" wide-angle camera works alongside the telephoto, useful for orienting in the sky and capturing wide areas such as the Milky Way.
Built-in guiding for exposures up to 300 seconds
A built-in guidescope ensures precise tracking, enabling single exposures of up to 300 seconds: a long exposure time for a smart telescope, useful for bringing out the faintest details of nebulae and galaxies. The Draco supports both classic Alt-Az operation and an EQ mode, which allows for longer, more precise tracking for deep-sky photography.
Cooled sensor and IP56 protection
An active sensor cooling system reduces thermal noise during long exposures, improving image quality. The heat generated is reused to warm the optics and prevent the front lens from fogging on cold or humid nights. Thanks to its IP56 rating, the telescope is protected from dust and water jets, making it suitable for mobile outdoor use.
Built-in filters, storage and battery life
The Standard version includes an astronomy filter, a dark-frame filter, a built-in ND solar filter (OD=5) and a dual narrowband Hα+OIII filter (half-width 13±3 nm), designed for capturing emission nebulae even under light pollution. Images are saved to 128 GB of internal storage and transferred via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or NFC (up to 15 metres, 30 MB/s) or via USB-C cable, which also charges the built-in 10,000 mAh (77 Wh) battery, good for about 5 hours of use.
