The iOptron GEM28-EC is the optical encoder version of the GEM28 equatorial mount. Weighing only 4.5 kg with a payload of 15 kg (with LiteRoc 1.75" tripod), the GEM28-EC reduces periodic error to below 0.3 arcsec RMS via real-time encoder correction, enabling unguided exposures on short focal lengths and optimally guided sessions on any setup.
Optical Encoder: Real-Time Periodic Error Correction
The RA-integrated encoder continuously corrects any drift, bringing PE below 0.3" RMS — enabling several-minute unguided exposures at focal lengths up to 500-600 mm, and optimally guided sessions on instruments up to 10-11 kg at focal lengths beyond 1500 mm.
Precision Quick-Lock Mechanics
Worm gears Ø 88 mm, 144 teeth, zero backlash, Quick-Lock system, latitude adjustment 10° – 60°.
Go2Nova® 8409 and Connectivity
