Compact binoculars with XD extra-low dispersion lenses and Schmidt-Pechan prisms
The Kowa Genesis Prominar 8x22 is a roof-prism compact binocular combining professional-grade optics with pocket-sized dimensions. Kowa's XD (extra-low dispersion) objective lenses deliver images with virtually zero chromatic aberration, true-to-life colours and exceptional sharpness across the entire field of view.
The multilayer C3 coating on the Schmidt-Pechan prisms achieves a reflectivity of 99% across the entire visible spectrum (400–700 nm), outperforming silver and optically-enhanced aluminium coatings. The Schmidt-Pechan optical design features 6 reflections and 4 air-to-glass transitions — every single optical surface is fully multi-coated.
Kowa Repelling KR coating and full waterproofing
Both objectives and eyepieces are treated with the proprietary hydrophobic and oil-repellent Kowa Repelling KR coating, preventing the build-up of grease, liquids and dirt on lens surfaces and making field cleaning quick and easy.
The magnesium alloy body is fully sealed and nitrogen-filled — completely waterproof and protected against internal fogging during sudden temperature changes. The magnesium exterior provides a secure, non-slip grip even when wet.
