The GENESIS 22s series is defined as XD, “extra-low dispersion lenses”, that is, having a very low Abbe number, such as to have practically neutral images that fully reflect the object we are observing. The eyepieces and objectives are covered by the “Kowa Repelling” (KR) treatment; the KR technology intervenes by preventing grease, fluids and dirt from accumulating on the surface of each treated lens, making cleaning much simpler and more immediate.

Kowa XD ultra-low dispersion lenses ensure exceptional performance, while the C3 multi-coating applied to the Schmidt-Pechan prisms allows for greater reflectivity across the visible spectrum (400-700nm) compared to other coatings available on the market. The results are bright, sharp images with very high color rendition. This is a new technology designed to increase the reflectivity of the prism. By reducing the amount of lost light, a brighter and more defined field of view is obtained. The GENESIS 22 binoculars use Schmidt-Pechan prisms; one surface of the prism, however, does not provide total reflection, so a highly reflective C3 coating has been applied. Reflectivity therefore increases to 99% across the visible light spectrum. The SP (Schmidt-Pecan) optical scheme includes 6 reflections and 4 air/glass passages.

All optical components are made in Japan with high-quality elements and all surfaces are fully multi-coated. These treatments ensure that light transmission, color definition, brightness and contrast are always at their maximum. The binoculars therefore produce images with exceptional clarity.

The GENESIS 22 binoculars are completely waterproof, but not suitable for underwater use. Kowa engineers have sealed each lens by filling it with nitrogen gas; this is to prevent internal misting of the lenses, a common problem when binoculars are subjected to rapid temperature changes. It also protects the binoculars from mold and other internal condensation problems. The magnesium coating also ensures that even when the binoculars are wet, you have a firm and secure grip. Previously, it was not possible to make roof prism binoculars waterproof because water could get in where the focus is, but the new Kowa design has ensured that this problem is 100% solved.
