The Kowa TSN-99A PROMINAR is the flagship of the Kowa line, featuring a 99 mm pure fluorite crystal objective — the largest ever produced for a spotting scope. The combination of the convex pure fluorite lens and the concave Kowa proprietary XD low-dispersion lens virtually eliminates chromatic aberration even at maximum magnification. Kit includes the TE-11WZ II Wide Angle 30–70X zoom eyepiece.
Kowa is the only manufacturer in the world to use pure fluorite crystals for the production of optical lenses in spotting scopes.
PROMINAR optics: chromatic aberration virtually eliminated
The 99 mm fluorite crystal objective is paired with a Kowa XD low-dispersion concave lens specifically developed by Kowa. This dual-element system reduces chromatic dispersion far beyond conventional systems, setting a new standard of optical purity. Optical coatings on every single lens and prism surface have been optimised to maximise light transmission.
Dual focus system: Quick Focus + Fine Focus
The dual focusing system is a hallmark of Kowa flagship models. The Quick Focus knob achieves focus rapidly in a few smooth turns; the Fine Focus knob provides millimetre-precise control — essential not only for observation but especially for digiscoping photography.
Magnesium alloy chassis and full weather protection
The TSN-99A body is built around a robust magnesium alloy chassis offering the ideal balance of rigidity, strength and weight. The body is fully sealed and nitrogen-filled for 100% protection against moisture and internal condensation. The proprietary hydrophobic and oil-repellent Kowa Repelling KR coating on the 105 mm objective repels dirt, dust and liquids.
Construction features
The TSN-99A includes a retractable sunshade with integrated aiming sight, a quick-release eyepiece button, a tripod mount with dual 1/4" and 3/8" thread compatibility, and a 105 mm filter thread (sunshade remains retractable with filter attached). The universal Kowa System collar allows secure connections with adapters, extenders and astronomical eyepieces.
