The OCAL Electronic Collimator version 4.0 represents the latest technological evolution for the optical collimation of astronomical telescopes, providing a precise, fast and real-time digital alignment system.
This version features a more sensitive CMOS sensor combined with a larger front lens, delivering improved resolution and sharper images even under low-light conditions. This enhancement allows clearer visualization of optical reference points, which is essential for accurate collimation.
Telescope compatibility
OCAL 4.0 is designed for the collimation of:
- Newtonian telescopes
- Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes
- RC (Ritchey-Chrétien)
- CDK
- Hyperbolic astrographs
The system is also compatible with telescopes faster than f/5, ensuring reliable performance with optically demanding instruments.
Mounting and connections
The collimator is equipped with a T2 thread (M42x0.75), allowing precise mounting and minimizing mechanical alignment errors.
Included are T2–M48 and 1.25" adapters, expanding compatibility with different focusers and optical configurations.
Collimation procedure
The collimation process is completed in four simple steps. The result is displayed instantly on screen, enabling precise adjustments and the option to capture screenshots for documentation or comparison.
The updated design includes a black ring that improves contrast with the center marking on the primary mirror, making centering operations clearer and more accurate.
Software and system compatibility
OCAL 4.0 is compatible with:
- Windows systems
- Android devices via OTG adapter
Windows software and the Android app are included, making the collimator suitable for both field use and observatory setups.
