The Optolong L-Pro Clip filter for Nikon Z is the clip-in version of the L-Pro filter, designed for Nikon Z full-frame mirrorless cameras. It installs directly inside the camera body, in front of the sensor, with no modifications needed to the camera: it can be used both with regular photography lenses and at the direct focus of a telescope.
It selectively blocks the main sources of light pollution – sodium vapor, mercury vapor and the background brightness caused by natural atmospheric oxygen emission ("skyglow") – as well as UV and IR outside the 300–750nm range. The main nebula emission lines (OIII 496/500nm, H-Beta 486nm, N-II 654/658nm, H-Alpha 656nm, S-II 672nm) are transmitted with over 90% efficiency, delivering sharper images on both broadband targets such as galaxies and clusters and emission nebulae, without the post-processing complications typical of more aggressive narrowband filters.
Note: with some lenses slight vignetting may occur due to the limited space inside the camera body; Optolong recommends using focal lengths of 50mm or longer to minimize this effect.
