Evolved precision with belt-driven transmission
The Sky-Watcher HEQ5-R PRO SynScan is the evolution of the historic HEQ5, featuring significant structural and mechanical improvements. The intermediate belt-driven transmission on both axes provides quieter operation, smoother movement and superior torque with minimal backlash. The enlarged worm gear diameter and increased tooth count in RA (160) and DEC (144) deliver superior tracking and guiding accuracy compared to the previous version — a fundamental requirement for long-exposure astrophotography sessions.
Advanced connectivity and simplified management
The HEQ5-R PRO features simplified connections through a separate external power supply and USB ports for PC control. The integrated SNAP connection allows direct camera control for synchronized imaging. The integrated carry handle makes transporting the head easier for mobile sessions, while the improved altitude adjustment facilitates polar alignment in the field. The head is compatible with Vixen/CG5 and Losmandy/CGE dovetail bars.
SynScan GoTo system with 42,000-object database
The powerful SynScan pointing system with included hand controller offers variable speeds from 0.25× to 800× and Sidereal, Lunar and Solar tracking modes. With a database of 42,000 celestial objects, the mount automatically slews and tracks any selected object, including advanced configurations with ASCOM and remote control software. The maximum payload of 15 kg makes it compatible with a wide range of optical tubes, from ED refractors to imaging Newtonians.
