The Sky-Watcher Maksutov SkyMax 150/1800 EQ5 Synscan telescope is a 150mm Maksutov-Cassegrain catadioptric with an 1800mm focal length (f/12), mounted on a computerised EQ5 GoTo Wi-Fi equatorial mount with an adjustable steel tripod. Thanks to its low-dispersion glass and long focal length in a compact tube, it delivers excellent performance on double stars, planets and the Moon, with automated pointing.

Who it's for

Thanks to its small secondary mirror and low obstruction, this Maksutov is the ideal instrument for high-resolution planetary and lunar imaging: just a 2x or 3x Barlow lens is enough to achieve exceptional magnification. Its high contrast also makes it well suited to deep-sky observation. The EQ5 SynScan mount, with automated pointing and an autoguider port, is a solid base for both visual observation and long-exposure astrophotography.
