The Sky-Watcher Newton Explorer 200/1000 EQ5 Synscan telescope is probably the most widely used Newtonian reflector in the world: a 200mm optical tube with a 1000mm focal length (f/5), mounted on a computerised EQ5 GoTo Wi-Fi equatorial mount with an adjustable steel tripod. An excellent combination of aperture, optical quality and automated pointing at an affordable price.

Who it's for

Compared to a 150mm tube, it gathers 78% more light, revealing more detail in galaxies and nebulae and allowing higher magnifications while a small secondary mirror keeps contrast high. Perfect for visual use on an EQ5 mount; for intensive astrophotography an EQ6-R mount is recommended. The EQ5 SynScan mount, with automated pointing and an autoguider port, is a solid base for both observation and long-exposure astrophotography.
