The Sky-Watcher SynCam 533C is a color CMOS astronomical camera designed for planetary imaging and entry-level deep-sky astrophotography. It is particularly well suited for beginners approaching astronomical imaging for the first time. The camera features the IMX533 sensor with 3.76 μm square pixels and a resolution of 9 megapixels, delivering detailed images with excellent field uniformity.
The CMOS sensor is characterized by extremely low read noise and a glow-free sensor architecture, ensuring clean and stable image quality across a wide range of imaging conditions. These characteristics make the SynCam 533C a versatile solution for multiple astrophotography applications.
Planetary, lunar and solar imaging
When connected to an astronomical telescope, the SynCam 533C enables high-definition imaging of the Moon and planets. Video capture allows the use of the stacking technique, where hundreds of individual frames are combined using dedicated software to produce detailed, low-noise final images.
Beginner-friendly deep-sky astrophotography
The sensor’s high sensitivity and low noise make the SynCam 533C well suited for beginners interested in imaging objects beyond the Solar System, such as nebulae, galaxies and star clusters. With compatible software, live stacking can be used to observe the progressive build-up of the image in real time on a PC monitor as exposure time increases.

The Sky-Watcher SynCam 533C is fully compatible with the software ecosystem of ToupTek Astronomy Inc., which authorizes the use of its camera control software with this model.
