The SkyWatcher Skyliner 250/1200 Classic is a closed-tube Dobson telescope with Newtonian optics, a 250 mm parabolic Pyrex primary mirror and 1200 mm focal length (f/4.8). With 250 mm of aperture and a solid wooden Dobson base, it is a semi-professional instrument for advanced visual observation of planets, the Moon and deep-sky objects. The closed tube protects the optics from dust and air currents, keeping collimation stable throughout every session.
250 mm Pyrex Mirror: Light, Detail and Depth
The Pyrex primary mirror provides superior dimensional stability and minimises thermal deformations during the night. At 250 mm and f/4.8, the Skyliner 250/1200 delivers bright images and a wide real field of view – ideal for observing extended nebulae, rich open clusters and galaxies with excellent contrast. The light-gathering power of the 250 mm aperture makes objects down to magnitude 14 accessible under dark skies.
Observing possibilities include:
- Deep sky: planetary nebulae with structural detail, spiral galaxies, fully resolved globular clusters
- Planets: cloud belts on Jupiter, Cassini Division and ring subdivisions on Saturn, surface features on Mars and Uranus
- Moon: craters and rilles with sub-kilometre detail at maximum magnification
Included accessories: 9×50 finder scope (brighter and more precise than a Red Dot Finder), Super 25 mm eyepiece (48x) and Super 10 mm eyepiece (120x), 31.8 mm barrel.
