SkyWatcher Skyliner 300/1500 Flextube – 300 mm Dobson Telescope with Collapsible Truss Tube

The SkyWatcher Skyliner 300/1500 Flextube is a Dobson telescope with a collapsible truss tube, Newtonian optics, a 300 mm primary mirror and 1500 mm focal length (f/5). The tube reduces to approximately 50% of its length for transport and opens to observing position in seconds with no disassembly. The wooden altazimuth Dobson base with friction-controlled altitude movement enables smooth, precise tracking. With 300 mm of aperture, this is the reference instrument for advanced visual deep-sky and planetary observation.

300 mm Aperture: High-Level Light-Gathering Power

The 300 mm aperture offers a light-collecting area nearly three times greater than a 175 mm telescope, making objects down to magnitude 14.5 accessible under dark skies. The f/5 focal ratio makes it versatile for both deep sky (wide field, bright images) and high-magnification planetary observation.

Observing possibilities with 300 mm:

  • Deep sky: detailed galaxy structure, dark and diffuse nebulae, globular clusters fully resolved to their faintest peripheral stars
  • Planets: fine atmospheric details on Jupiter and Saturn, ring structure, polar caps on Mars, discs of Uranus and Neptune
  • Double stars: splitting of very close pairs down to the theoretical resolution limit (0.38″)

The low-profile Crayford focuser 50.8 mm / 31.8 mm delivers precise, backlash-free focusing, compatible with large-format eyepieces. Included accessories: 9×50 finder scope, eyepieces SP 26 mm (57x) and SP 10 mm (150x), 31.8 mm barrel.
