The SkyWatcher Evostar 102/1000 is an achromatic doublet refractor with 102 mm aperture and 1000 mm focal length (f/9.8). Compact, lightweight (3.8 kg) and complete with accessories, it is the ideal entry-level instrument for those who want to start astronomy with a capable refractor at an accessible price. The long focal ratio favours lunar and planetary observation at high magnification.
What You Can See with 102 mm at f/9.8
With 102 mm aperture and 1000 mm focal length, the Evostar 102/1000 reaches up to 204× for:
- Moon: craters, lunar seas, mountain ranges and rilles with good resolution
- Planets: cloud belts on Jupiter, Saturn’s rings, phases of Venus, Mars disc
- Deep sky: open clusters, main globular clusters (M13, M22), brightest planetary nebulae
The standard accessories allow immediate observing: Super 25 mm eyepiece (40×) and Super 10 mm (100×) with 31.8 mm barrel, 90° mirror diagonal 50.8 mm with 31.8 mm adapter and 6×30 finder. The rack-and-pinion focuser 50.8 mm / 31.8 mm is compatible with 2″ and 1.25″ eyepieces.
