The SkyWatcher Evostar 150/1200 is an achromatic doublet refractor tube with 150 mm aperture and 1200 mm focal length (f/8). The long focal ratio makes it particularly suited to high-magnification planetary and lunar observation as well as visual deep-sky use. Despite its size, it is manageable on an EQ5 mount, making it one of the most accessible 150 mm refractors on the market.
Optical Performance: 150 mm Long Focal Length
With 150 mm aperture and 1200 mm focal length (f/8), the Evostar 150/1200 delivers high-contrast images with high native magnifications up to 300x. Ideal for:
- Planets: cloud belts on Jupiter, Cassini Division on Saturn, polar caps of Mars
- Moon: craters, rilles and mountain ranges with sub-kilometre detail
- Deep sky: globular clusters, planetary nebulae, galaxies under good transparency
The anti-reflection coating improves light transmission and reduces internal reflections. The rack-and-pinion focuser 50.8 mm / 31.8 mm ensures compatibility with 2″ and 1.25″ accessories. Included: 2″ LET 28 mm eyepiece, 90° mirror diagonal 50.8 mm with 31.8 mm adapter, 9×50 finder scope.
