Vai al moduloSky-Watcher Evostar 150EDX – 150 mm ED apochromatic refractor optical tube
The Sky-Watcher Evostar 150EDX is an apochromatic ED doublet refractor designed to deliver reference-level performance for both visual observation and astrophotography. As the direct successor to the Evostar 150ED, it represents the largest-aperture model in Sky-Watcher’s ED doublet apochromatic refractor range.
The 150 mm aperture objective with a 1200 mm focal length (f/8) uses Extra Low Dispersion OHARA FPL-53 glass, providing extremely sharp, high-contrast images with chromatic aberration virtually eliminated. This makes the Evostar 150EDX suitable for high-resolution visual observing as well as demanding astrophotographic applications.
ED optics with OHARA FPL-53 glass
The use of FPL-53 ED glass significantly reduces visible chromatic errors. Extra Low Dispersion glass is characterised by very low colour dispersion and a reduced refractive index, allowing accurate colour correction and high image definition even at high magnifications.
With its 150 mm aperture, the Evostar 150EDX reaches the highest performance level within this refractor series, making it ideal for detailed observations of planets, the Moon and double stars, as well as for deep-sky visual observation and astrophotography.
Astrophotography at native or reduced focal length
For astrophotography, the optical tube can be used at its native focal length or reduced with the dedicated 0.77x flattener/reducer, resulting in a f/6.1 focal ratio. This configuration delivers pinpoint stars across the entire field and an apochromatic image quality which, combined with the 150 mm aperture, provides a resolution not achievable with smaller diameters.
High-capacity 3” rack-and-pinion focuser
The optical tube is equipped with a 3” rack-and-pinion focuser, manufactured using CNC machining, offering greater robustness and precision compared to the previous model. It features a 1:11 dual-speed reduction, an integrated graduated scale, full 360° rotation and a high load capacity, ensuring stability and accuracy even with heavy imaging setups.
An external thread allows the use of third-party accessories or direct connection of the dedicated flattener/reducer.
Structural design, handling and complete supply package
The upper carry handle allows ergonomic handling of the optical tube and also functions as a mounting bar. The retractable dew shield reduces the overall tube length from 1250 mm to 1067 mm, minimising size for transport and storage.
The tube is fitted with a insertable dew/dust cap, solid anodised aluminium tube rings and a 75 mm wide mounting rail. The supply package also includes a Losmandy-style dovetail bar and a custom reinforced aluminium hard case designed for safe transport and protection.
