Vai al moduloThe Sky-Watcher Evostar 80EDX is an apochromatic ED doublet refractor designed for both visual observation and astrophotography. As the direct successor to the well-known Evostar 80ED, this model features significant optical and mechanical improvements while maintaining a compact and versatile form factor.
The 80 mm aperture objective with a 600 mm focal length (f/7.5) uses OHARA FPL-53 Extra Low Dispersion glass, delivering sharp, high-contrast images with virtually no chromatic aberration. This makes the Evostar 80EDX suitable for demanding visual use as well as a highly capable multi-purpose astrograph.
The use of FPL-53 ED glass ensures excellent colour correction thanks to its extremely low chromatic dispersion and high refractive index. Combined with additional optical elements, this configuration produces pinpoint stars and clean image quality across the entire field of view.
Further contrast enhancement is achieved through the use of Schott crown glass, contributing to precise and well-defined images for both planetary and deep-sky observation.
The Evostar 80EDX can be used at its native focal length or reduced with the dedicated 0.85x flattener/reducer, bringing the focal ratio to f/6.3. This flexibility makes it particularly suitable for deep-sky astrophotography, providing well-corrected fields with pinpoint stars across the entire image.
The optical tube is equipped with an enlarged 2.8” focuser, offering greater robustness and precision compared to the previous generation. It features a 1:11 dual-speed reduction, full 360° rotation and high load capacity, ensuring stable and accurate focusing even with demanding imaging setups.
An external thread allows the use of third-party accessories or direct connection of the dedicated flattener/reducer.
The upper carry handle provides ergonomic handling of the optical tube and facilitates transport. The retractable dew shield reduces the overall length from 557 mm to 475 mm, minimizing storage and transport space requirements.
The Evostar 80EDX is supplied with tube rings and a Vixen/EQ5-style dovetail bar, an upper carry handle, and a custom-fitted aluminium hard case for safe transport and storage.
