The SkyWatcher Maksutov 102 AZ-EQ Avant pairs a Maksutov-Cassegrain optical tube with a 102 mm aperture and 1300 mm focal length (f/12.75) with the versatile AZ-EQ Avant mount, convertible in seconds from altazimuth to equatorial configuration. The Maksutov-Cassegrain design delivers sharp, chromatic-aberration-free images, making it the ideal instrument for high-resolution observations of the Moon, planets and double stars. With the optional erecting diagonal it also excels for daytime nature observation.
The AZ-EQ Avant mount is the perfect synthesis of portable altazimuth and equatorial mounts. With slow-motion controls on both axes, a payload capacity of around 3 kg and the ability to switch instantly between configurations, it is ideal for visual observers and photographers alike. In equatorial mode, a single touch of the RA slow-motion control keeps any celestial object centred in the field throughout the entire session. The collapsible telescopic tripod with half-column and accessory tray completes the package.
