Vai al moduloSkyWatcher Skymax 180: the most powerful Maksutov-Cassegrain in the series
The SkyWatcher Skymax 180 is the most advanced 180mm Maksutov-Cassegrain optical tube in the Sky-Watcher range. With a focal length of 2700mm and a focal ratio of f/15, this telescope is designed for maximum performance in planetary observation, lunar photography, and high-magnification astrophotography.
Superior optics for outstanding performance
Thanks to the use of low-dispersion glass and precision-machined optical surfaces, the Skymax 180 delivers images of planets and double stars with extraordinary contrast and resolution. The reduced secondary mirror obstruction ensures high contrast even in suboptimal seeing conditions. With a maximum magnification of 360x, Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, and the Moon reveal fine details that few telescopes in this price range can match.
Ideal for planetary and lunar photography
The Maksutov-Cassegrain design is considered one of the best for high-magnification planetary and lunar photography: the long focal length delivers high magnification natively, without requiring additional optics. Paired with any planetary camera (ASI, ZWO, and similar) and a 2x Barlow, the Skymax 180 produces images of exceptional detail. It also performs well for visual deep-sky observation thanks to its high contrast — stars appear as true pinpoints of light.
Compact, versatile, and ready to use
Despite the 180mm aperture and 2700mm focal length, the Maksutov-Cassegrain catadioptric design makes the optical tube compact and easy to transport (weight: 8 kg). The 50.8mm (2") focuser ensures compatibility with a wide range of eyepieces and accessories. The system attaches to the mount via a 45mm dovetail bar, Sky-Watcher standard.
