Vai al moduloSkyWatcher Skymax 90: the compact Maksutov-Cassegrain for planets and the Moon
The SkyWatcher Skymax 90 is the most compact and lightweight 90mm Maksutov-Cassegrain optical tube in the entire Sky-Watcher range. With a focal length of 1250mm and a focal ratio of f/13.9, it is the ideal instrument for beginners in planetary astronomy or as a portable second scope for high-magnification observation of planets, the Moon, and double stars.
Maksutov-Cassegrain design: compact yet powerful
The Maksutov-Cassegrain design is renowned for its excellent balance between size and optical performance. Despite weighing just 1.3 kg, the Skymax 90 delivers sharp, high-contrast images of Solar System planets. The small secondary mirror obstruction combined with the aluminized mirrors and anti-reflection coating maximise light transmission and image contrast, revealing details that refractors of equal aperture often miss.
Perfect as a first telescope or travel scope
Thanks to its weight of 1.3 kg and compact size, the Skymax 90 is ideal both as a beginner telescope and as a travel scope for experienced amateur astronomers. The standard photographic tripod adapter makes it easy to use with any common tripod, while the complete accessory kit — including two Super eyepieces and a 90° mirror diagonal — means you can start observing immediately with no additional purchases. The Starpointer finder simplifies aiming even for first-time observers.
Accessible planetary and lunar photography
With a maximum magnification of 180x and a 31.8mm (1.25") focuser, the Skymax 90 pairs with any planetary camera for Moon and planetary imaging. The 1250mm focal length provides an excellent image scale even without a Barlow, making it one of the best entry-level telescopes for lunar photography in its price range.
