The SkyWatcher Newton 130 AZGTi pairs an excellent 130 mm f/5 Newtonian optical tube with the revolutionary motorised altazimuth AZ-GTi mount, fully controllable via Wi-Fi through the free SynScan app for iOS and Android. Weighing just 1.3 kg with dimensions of 14×9×14 cm, the AZ-GTi is the ideal solution for those seeking a compact, stable GoTo platform to take to dark skies, without giving up the convenience of automatic pointing.
Dual encoders on both axes allow manual slewing with loose clutches while always knowing the sky coordinates of the observed field. After a quick one-, two- or three-star alignment, a catalogue of over 40,000 objects is available for high-precision automatic pointing. The Servo DC motors with 0.625″ resolution keep star clusters, galaxies, the Moon and planets permanently centred in the field. The SNAP input (optional cable) enables camera control from the smartphone for time-lapses and image sequences.
