Vai al moduloSkyWatcher StarQuest 70R: the ideal equatorial refractor telescope for beginners
The SkyWatcher StarQuest 70R is a 70/700 refractor telescope mounted on the new StarQuest equatorial mount, designed for stability, smooth motion, and maximum ease of use. With an aperture of 70mm and a focal length of 700mm (f/10), it is one of the most complete and reliable instruments in the category of beginner telescopes, ideal for observing the Moon, planets, and the brightest deep-sky objects.
The StarQuest equatorial mount: stability and jerk-free motion
The standout feature of this telescope is the StarQuest equatorial mount, which sets itself apart from classic mounts with its innovative friction system on both axes, inherited from the professional AZEQ Avant range. This design ensures smooth, continuous movements without sudden jerks or friction that could disrupt observations. With the axes locked, the worm gear slow-motion controls (122-tooth crown) allow fine, precise pointing and keep objects centred in the eyepiece. The 3 kg payload capacity leaves room for additional accessories.
Easy polar alignment with your smartphone
Polar alignment with the StarQuest is straightforward: simply use your smartphone's bubble level to set the mount's altitude to your observation latitude, then point it toward the celestial North Pole. Once aligned, using the Right Ascension slow-motion control is all you need to track any object during observation. This makes equatorial astronomy accessible even for complete beginners.
Practical, lightweight, and ready straight out of the box
The folding aluminium tripod is sturdy and compact, featuring a handy accessory tray to safely store eyepieces and your smartphone during observing sessions. The complete kit includes two eyepieces (25mm and 10mm), a Red-Dot finder for quick aiming, plus the counterweight bar and counterweight. With a maximum magnification of 150x, the StarQuest 70R lets you explore lunar craters, Saturn’s rings, Jupiter’s bands, and bright nebulae like Orion — all with a fast and intuitive setup.
