Tecnosky 130/900 OWL EDT – Apochromatic Triplet Refractor
Tecnosky 130/900 OWL EDT – Apochromatic Triplet Refractor for Visual Use and Astrophotography
The Tecnosky 130/900 OWL EDT is an apochromatic refractor telescope from the new OWL EDT series, designed for high-end planetary observation and deep-sky astrophotography.
The optical system features an air-spaced triplet with a central element made of FPL-51 fluorite glass, and fully multi-coated (FMC) surfaces. This combination delivers sharp, high-contrast images with virtually no chromatic aberration.
Optical and Mechanical Features
- Apo triplet with FMC coatings and FPL-51 glass
- Aperture: 130 mm – Focal length: 910 mm – Focal ratio: f/7
- CNC-machined aluminum tube with matte black finish and silver-anodized parts
- Retractable dew shield; length: 81 cm (retracted), 94 cm (extended)
- Weight: 9.9 kg
Focuser and Imaging Compatibility
Equipped with a 3" rack-and-pinion focuser, rotatable 360°, with a generous 95 mm travel range. It can support heavy imaging gear and visual accessories. Both 2" and 1.25" adapters include brass compression rings.
M63x1 and M80x1 threads are available for using large field flatteners, recommended for sensors APS-C and above.
Performance in Visual and Astrophotographic Use
Thanks to its f/7 focal ratio and excellent optical quality, the Tecnosky 130/900 OWL EDT delivers outstanding results for lunar, planetary, and double star observation. The 130 mm aperture also performs well on deep-sky objects, showing pinpoint stars against a dark sky background.
For astrophotography with cameras such as the ASI 533 or 294, the image field is already well corrected. For larger sensors, a 1x flattener (f/7) or a 0.8x reducer (728 mm, f/5.6) is recommended.
