The ToupTek 224C Color is a color CMOS astronomy camera designed for both autoguiding and planetary imaging. Equipped with the Sony IMX224 Color sensor, it represents a compact and reliable solution for astrophotographers who require high sensitivity, fast frame rates, and low noise performance.
Sony IMX224 Sensor: High Sensitivity and Low Read Noise
The IMX224 color CMOS sensor features a resolution of 1280 × 960 pixels and a 3.75 μm pixel size, making it ideal for lunar, planetary, and guiding applications. Its very low read noise, wide dynamic range, and a peak quantum efficiency exceeding 75% allow for detailed imaging even with short exposure times.
Optimized for Planetary Astrophotography and Autoguiding
The ToupTek 224C Color is highly regarded for planetary astrophotography, thanks to its stable signal quality and high frame rate capabilities. At the same time, it performs excellently as an ST4-compatible guiding camera, ensuring accurate tracking during long-exposure deep-sky imaging sessions.
High-Speed Data Transfer and Direct Mount Integration
The integrated USB 3.0 Type-B port enables fast data transfer, which is essential for lucky imaging and real-time guiding. The dedicated ST4 guiding port allows direct connection to the mount for immediate and reliable autoguiding operation.
