The ToupTek SkyEye26AM Plus is a cooled monochrome CMOS camera in APS-C format for deep-sky astrophotography, based on the Sony IMX571 monochrome sensor with 26 megapixels. It is part of ToupTek Astro's new SkyEye Plus series, with dual-stage TEC cooling, an integrated USB hub and DDR3 buffer.
Sony IMX571 monochrome sensor
The monochrome sensor, with no Bayer filter, offers maximum sensitivity per pixel and is ideal for LRGB and narrowband (Hα, OIII, SII) imaging. The sensor reaches a peak quantum efficiency of > 91% and read noise of 0.77 e⁻ (HCG mode), with a full well capacity of up to 51,000 e⁻ (LCG mode): two gain modes (LCG and HCG) let you choose between extended dynamic range and minimum noise.
Cooling and performance
- Dual-stage TEC cooling to reduce thermal noise in long exposures
- Zero amp-glow circuit for clean dark frames
- Anti-condensation heating of the optical window, controlled by temperature and humidity sensors
Connectivity
The integrated 5-port USB hub (4× USB 2.0 and 1× USB 3.0) lets you connect filter wheel, guide camera and focuser through a single cable to the computer. The internal 512 MB DDR3 buffer helps manage data transfer.
