Vai al moduloTS-Optics Cassegrain 8" f/12: the superior alternative to the Schmidt-Cassegrain
The TS-Optics Cassegrain 8" f/12 combines the advantages of a pure reflective system — without Schmidt plate or meniscus lens — with a compact design and superior optical performance. Featuring a parabolic primary mirror and a hyperbolic secondary mirror made from fused quartz glass, it delivers stable focus, a brighter image (99% reflectivity on both mirrors) and a flat, well-corrected image field up to APS-C sensor format. Ideal for visual observation, planetary and lunar photography, and — with modern CMOS cameras — even deep-sky imaging.
Key advantages over Schmidt-Cassegrain
- Pure reflective system: suitable for infrared photography at full resolution
- Faster temperature adaptation thanks to open design (no front plate)
- No mirror shift: the primary mirror is fixed
- Brighter image thanks to 99% dielectric coating on primary and secondary mirror
- Flatter field than SC: reduced field curvature
- Less dew problems: no front plate to fog up
- Only 33% linear obstruction: excellent for visual astronomy
- Interior baffles for high contrast and stray light suppression
- Large backfocus (~150mm from the 2" receptacle) for 2" accessories
Applications
- Travel telescope: compact tube (620mm), lightweight (7.5 kg), focuser removable in seconds
- Visual astronomical observation: bright, contrasty image, corrected field, compatible with 2" and 1.25" accessories
- Planetary and lunar photography: high contrast, anti-stray light baffles, Crayford focuser with micro-gear reduction for precise focusing
- Deep-sky imaging: with modern sensitive CMOS cameras, no additional corrector lenses needed up to APS-C format
