The ZWO AM5N is a harmonic-drive equatorial mount designed to combine portability, tracking precision and advanced software integration. Introduced to celebrate ZWO’s tenth anniversary, it represents a major step forward in compact high-performance mounts, suitable for both advanced astrophotographers and demanding observers.
Harmonic Drive Technology and Load Capacity
Thanks to its harmonic drive system, the ZWO AM5N can support up to 13 kg without counterweights. With optional counterweights, the maximum payload increases to 20 kg, allowing the use of larger optical setups with excellent stability.
With a total weight of only 5 kg, the mount is ideal for portable astrophotography while maintaining high mechanical rigidity.
Dual Operating Mode: EQ / Alt-Az
The AM5N supports both equatorial (EQ) and alt-azimuth (Alt-Az) configurations. EQ mode is optimized for long-exposure astrophotography, while Alt-Az mode offers flexible use for general observing.
A LED status indicator shows the active mode: red for EQ and green for Alt-Az.
Wireless Control and ASIAIR Integration
The ZWO AM5N is designed for a fully wireless operating experience. Control is managed via smartphone or tablet with full ASIAIR integration. Built-in Bluetooth, WiFi, and improved clamp connections featuring USB-C and DC ports help minimize cable clutter and simplify setup.
Tracking Accuracy and Reliability
Each mount is individually calibrated to ensure a periodic error below ±20 arcseconds, providing stable and consistent tracking for deep-sky imaging and electronically assisted observation.
