The ZWO ASI4400MC Pro is a high-performance cooled color astrophotography camera designed for demanding users who require exceptional image quality and a wide field of view. Equipped with the Sony IMX366 full frame back-illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor, it delivers 44 megapixels of resolution, high sensitivity with a peak QE of 80%, and extremely low read noise down to 1.1 e⁻.
Full Frame Sensor for Wide-Field Imaging
The 36 × 24 mm sensor with a 43.3 mm diagonal allows full use of the illuminated field provided by full-frame optics, minimizing vignetting and preserving edge detail. With 4.4 µm pixels, the ASI4400MC Pro offers an optimal balance between resolution, light-gathering capability and sampling, ideal for extended deep-sky targets such as nebulae, galaxies and rich star fields.
Advanced Cooling and Image Performance
The dual-stage TEC cooling system reduces the sensor temperature by 30–35°C below ambient, greatly suppressing thermal noise during long exposures. The automatic HCG mode, active from Gain 136, lowers read noise while maintaining more than 13 stops of dynamic range. A built-in 5W anti-dew heater and UV/IR-cut filter ensure clean and stable imaging, even under high humidity conditions.
High-Level Hardware Architecture
A 512 MB DDR3 buffer enhances data transfer stability over USB 3.0, especially at full resolution. The red anodized aluminum body provides durability, thermal stability and includes an integrated tilt-adjustment system with push/pull screws for precise sensor orthogonality.
