The ZWO ASI461MM Pro is a cooled monochrome camera designed for the most demanding astrophotographers and astronomical research. It uses the large Sony IMX461 medium-format sensor (44 x 33 mm) with an impressive resolution of 100 megapixels (11656 x 8750 px). Thanks to back-illumination technology, the sensor reaches a peak quantum efficiency of around 91%.
The two-stage Peltier cooling keeps the sensor up to 35°C below ambient temperature: at 0°C, dark current noise is only 0.003 e/s per pixel, a value below the camera's own read noise. A built-in anti-dew heater warms the front glass to prevent condensation on humid nights, while the anti-amp-glow circuit virtually eliminates the glow effect at image edges.
