The ZWO ASI992MM Pro is a cooled scientific camera fitted with a Sony IMX992 InGaAs sensor, sensitive in the SWIR band (Short Wave Infrared, approx. 0.4-1.7 μm). This technology, typically reserved for industrial and research applications, allows observation of wavelengths invisible to traditional silicon CMOS sensors, opening new possibilities for scientific and experimental imaging in astronomy.
The two-stage Peltier cooling significantly reduces the sensor's thermal noise, essential in SWIR applications where the useful signal can be weak. Low read noise and the absence of amp glow round out a package designed for professional use.
