A dual-band filter for narrowband imaging in a single session

The IDAS NBZ-II filter simultaneously transmits the red H-alpha line and the blue-green OIII lines, increasing the contrast of emission nebulae and allowing narrowband images to be obtained with just one series of exposures, without needing to alternate between multiple single-band filters.

Designed to work well even with very fast optics

The filter is compatible with telescopes and photographic lenses down to f/1.4, making it usable on virtually any standard optic and most fast photographic lenses. The 10nm bandwidth for H-alpha and 8nm for OIII is slightly wider than the 7nm dual-band filters of other manufacturers: this extra margin avoids the severe transmission loss (sometimes over 50%) that occurs with narrower filters when used on very fast optics (around f/2), making the NBZ-II suitable for both slow and fast systems without needing to change filters.
