2" ring-mounted version of the IDAS NGS1 filter, from the LPS-D3 series. It selectively attenuates artificial stray light sources without significantly altering the color balance of broadband objects like galaxies and star clusters, delivering a more natural photographic result than narrowband filters.
A filter that also fights the sky's natural glow
The NGS1 also reduces airglow, the faint atmospheric glow generated by the recombination of oxygen and nitrogen molecules after exposure to solar ultraviolet rays. This effect is particularly evident in long-exposure shots taken from high-altitude sites under very dark skies, where the NGS1 filter helps preserve nebula contrast.
Designed for fast optics
Thanks to IGAD coating technology, the transmission curve remains stable even at the wide angles of incidence typical of very fast photographic optics, avoiding the spectral shifts typical of traditional coatings.
